Priory School is committed to pupils using the Internet safely and through education ensuring they are aware of the dangers and how to avoid them. Priory School delivers CEOP (Child Exploitation and Online Protection) lessons to all pupils with a specific focus on Social Networking. Pupils are encouraged to communicate with each other and teachers electronically to develop their learning, using their school email account and Priory Cloud to work collaboratively.
Facebook and other social networks are occasionally used inappropriately, and in a small number of instances pupils have engaged in bullying through such media. Priory School take all instances of bullying exceptionally seriously and where social networks are used we endeavour to collect evidence, which is kept on pupils files and sent to parents as appropriate. Pupils are encouraged not to join groups or befriend people who engage in bullying activities on social networks. Supporting such groups is deemed to be engaging in bullying or supporting it and action is also taken to educate pupils as to the effect it has on other pupils. Pupils are also educated as to the future effect making comments or posting images about themselves and others can have when applying to colleges, universities or positions of employment.
Parents are reminded that ALL users need to be aged 13 or over to set up a Facebook account.
